Go Green Africa Summer Program

Taught 120 students in Bamenda, Cameroon, about dangers to humans and the environment of using plastic baggies. For the culmination, had every student write a letter to the Ministry of Environment to ask them to ban the plastic bags. Letters were delivered personally to the headquarters in Yaounde. Five years later, in 2014, "Cameroon President Paul Biya, through the Ministry of Environment, Protection of Nature, and Sustainable Development, has issued a ban on the use of non-biodegradable plastics bags. The ban is going to take effect on April 24th throughout the nation."

Funded by the Ruth Dietrich Tuttle Prize at Smith College and private donors.
