Great Rivers Greenways and River Des Peres

I did it! I went on mobile tours for the entire conference (a challenge I accepted at the beginning of the week). On the third and final day of APBP last week, we took a trip to the West side of St. Louis, down to the River des Peres Greenway. When the planners wanted to create a multi-use trail along the River des Peres, officials weren't sure they wanted to attract unwanted attention to the combined river/sewage channel. But the terrific recreational facility has brought good attention to the once malodorous CCC-era project. The community is now involved in updating the channel to better meet the needs of the community and people ride along the path joyfully.
